Description	:	Norman Kuper, 90, of Lennox, SD, died Sunday, May 7, 2017 at the Sanford Centennial Hospice Cottage, Sioux Falls. Norman was born on January 9, 1927 to Herman J. and Grace Hippen Kuper. He grew up in the area and was drafted into the US Army serving time in Germany. He was honorably discharged and later became a lifetime member of the Chancellor American Legion. Read More	Norman Kuper, 90, of Lennox, SD, died Sunday, May 7, 2017 at the Sanford Centennial Hospice Cottage, Sioux Falls. Norman was born on January 9, 1927 to Herman J. and Grace Hippen Kuper. He grew up in the area and was drafted into the US Army serving time in Germany. He was honorably discharged and later became a lifetime member of the Chancellor American Legion. Following the military, he worked at Mattheis Supply. He married Esther Schoffelman in January, 1949. Norman and Esther farmed in the area for many years starting near Chancellor and moving to Davis in 1965. He moved haystacks and buildings for 18 years with his custom hay mover. Norman retired from farming in 1989 and turned his focus to restoring his father’s 1917 Moline Universal D tractor with his brother Luverne. Norman and Esther continued living on the farm and Norman worked for Gary Jongeling Harvesting from Oklahoma to North Dakota. Norman also worked with his brother Luverne, Alan Fodness and Galen Kuper in the graveling business. In 1999, Norman and Esther moved to Lennox. He worked for the City of Lennox and for Eastern Farmer’s Cooperative for several years. Norman sold insurance and served on the board of directors for Turner County Mutual for many years. He was a life time member of the Turner County First Presbyterian Church serving as Trustee, Deacon, and Elder. Norman and Esther enjoyed traveling seeing many parts of the country over the years. He loved to read, do puzzles, bowling and attend anything involving his grandchildren. He never had a grandchild beat him in an arm wrestling match or a game of Othello. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Anna Oltmanns and brother, Luverne Kuper. Survivors include his wife Esther of Lennox, children Loren (Marjean) Kuper of Blackhawk, Venita (Jim) Winterboer of Brookings, Jody (LeAnn) Kuper of Milbank and Tami (Wes) Harms of Harrisburg. Norman is survived by eleven grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Don (Jeri) Kuper of Tea and Sister-in-Law, Cora Schoffelman as well as a host of other relatives and friends. Private burial with military honors, at the Lennox Cemetery, will preceed memorial services wchich begin at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 11 at Turner County Evangelical Church, rural Davis, SD. Visitation, also at Turner County Evangelical, with the family present, will be 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday. Dindott-Klusmann FH - May 8, 2017
