He was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Beemer, NE. Norman attended Cuming County Rural School District #28. On January 28, 1947, he was united in marriage to Laverne Meier at the Immanuel Lutheran Parsonage. The couple was engaged in farming south of Beemer, NE. In 2001, the couple moved into Beemer, NE. Norman was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and served as a trustee.
