Norman Oliver Jermeland was born March 26, 1922 in Ossian to Theodore and Lena (Knudson) Jermeland. he was baptized April 18, 1922 and confirmed Sept 13, 1936 at Stavanger Lutheran Church, Ossian. He attended rural school near Ossian. Norman served in the Army during WWII. On April 15, 1945 Norman Jermeland and Marjorie Walvatne were united in marriage at Bethany Lutheran Church, rural West Union. Norman worked as a farmhand for a few years. he was employed at Carpenter and Kraft Redi Mix Concrete Company, West Union for 34 years as a truck driver. Norman and Marjorie lived in West Union all their married lives. He entered the Good Samaritan Home on Dec 5, 1994. Preceding him in death were his parents, three sisters and four brothers. Norman is survived by his wife Marjorie; three sons, David, West Union, Joel, Deborah and Mark, Fayette; two daughters, Rebecca Kelly, Hawkey, and Mary Hennig, Evensdale, Wis; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Other survivors include three brothers Willard Jermeland, Mason City, Joseph Jermeland, Clear Lake and Theodore Jermeland, West Union, and four sisters, Selma Johnson, Mason City, Lillian Torkelson, Garner, Merna Walvatne, West Union and LaVonne Benzing, Monona.
