Description	:	Aberdeen - The funeral for Norman P.O. Wockenfuss, 73 of 1724 S. Second St. will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church, 1500 E. Melgaard Road. The Rev. Harold E.Salem will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens with military graveside rites by Sidney L Smith American Legion Post No. 24. Miller-Huebl Funeral Home, 1111 S. Family and casket bearers are requested to meet at 10 a.m. Saturday at the church. He died Tuesday, July 18, 1995 at St. Luke's Midland Regional Medical Center. Norman P.O. Wockenfuss was born Aug. 5, 1921 to Bernard J. and Esther (Kloehn) Wockenfuss in Groton. This is where he started school. In 1928 the family moved to Ipswich, where he attended rural school, and graduated from Ipswich High School in 1940. He worked in Ipswich until he entered the U.S. Army on Oct., 22, 1942 at Fort Snelling, Minn. He served in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater, New Guinea,Southern Philippines and Luzon. He received the Purple Heart. He received his honorable discharge on Oct. 18, 1945 at Fort Leavenworth, Kan. He returned to the Ipswich area where he farmed with his parents. He married Delores Reich on Sept. 5, 1951 in Ashley, N.D. They made their first home in Ipswich, later moving to a farm south of Ipswich. They lived there until 1958, when they moved to Aberdeen where he was employed at Michelson Equipment. He later worked at Hub City Motors, then Voight Buick. In 1965 started his real estate career at Western Real Estate, In 1968, he and Milbert Mehlhoff stated Mehlhoff Real Estate, where he was still working at the time of his death. He was a member of First Baptist Church where he served as head usher for many years, was a past trustee and drove the bus for Sunday school for many years. He was a member of National Association of Realtors, South Dakota Association of Realtors where he was past director for many years, Aberdeen Realtors Association where he received the first Spirit Award, Aberdeen Chamber of Commerce, Sidney L. Smith American Legion Post No. 24, Veterans of Foreign Wars C.C.Croal Post No 17, Elks Lodge No. 1046 and American Assocation of Retired Persons (AARP). He was South Dakota Realtor of the Year in 1987. Survivors include his wife of Aberdeen; four sons, Melvin Wockenfuss and Neil Wockenfuss, both of Aberdeen, Rodney Wockenfuss of Port Orchard, Wash., and Dean Wockenfuss of Zion, Ill; one daughter, Mrs. David (Patty) Lundberg of Pilot Mound, Iowa; one brother, Herbert Wockenfuss of Ipswich, one sister, Mrs. Erna Cafourek of Watertown; and 10 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and one granddaughter. Honorary casketbearers will be the members of the Aberdeen Realtors Association, past and present ushers of First Baptist Church and the Ramkota Coffee Gang. Casketbears will be Clarence Rose, Milbert Mehlhoff, Milton Ehresmann, Jack Brooks, Aaron Wockenfuss and Erick Wockenfuss. Organist will be Peggy Cruse, and soloist will be Barb Rieck. Ushers will be Lloyd Mibrandt, Leo Felock, Ken Sherman and Marvin Kopecky. Eulogist will be the Rev. Jack Brooks and Neil Wockenfuss.
