Norman passed away on Tuesday, December 8, 2009 at St. Francis Memorial Hospital in West Point, NE. Norman Ronald Schultz was born to Helmuth and Bertha (Reikofski) Schultz at Beemer, NE on January 19, 1918. He was baptized February 17, 1918 and confirmed March 20, 1932 at Immanuel Lutheran Church near Beemer by Rev. M. Leimer. He attended school at Immanuel Parochial School through the 8th grade. He was married to Winona Feyerherm on August 11, 1946 at Immanuel Lutheran Church near Beemer by Rev. T. Hilgendorf. They lived on a farm north of Beemer until they moved to Beemer in January of 1977. Norman enlisted in the Armed Forces March 23, 1941, and served during World War II for 4 ½ years with the Service Company 134th Infantry, 35th Division. He landed on the beaches of Normandy following D-Day. He was honorably discharged October 17, 1945. He was a past commander of the Beemer American Legion Post #159 and also a member of the West Point Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #4912. He served on the board of directors of the Cuming County Public Power District, was a member of the Farmers Union Oil Association of Wisner and Beemer, and was on the Beemer Housing Board. Norman held various church offices while he was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church at rural Pender and also at St. John's Lutheran Church in Beemer of which he was currently a member. Norman enjoyed playing cards each week and was known for all of his woodworking projects and other inventions throughout the years. Norman moved to the Colonial Haven Nursing Home in February of 2005, where he lived until his death. Norman is survived by- Daughter-Eileen and husband Bryon Westrum of Boone, IA Sons- Stanley and wife Cheryl (Ott) Schultz of Beemer, NE Brian and wife Beth (Ott) Schultz of Beemer, NE 6 Grandchildren- Hollie (Schultz) and husband Mike Bert of St. Louis, MO Dawn Westrum and husband Rob Erdman of Boone, IA Michael and wife Meredith Westrum of Des Moines, IA Adam and wife Emma Westrum of Boone, IA Jordan Schultz of Beemer, NE Morgan Schultz of Beemer, NE 2 Great Grandchildren-Katherine and Alexandra Bert He was preceded in death by his parents, beloved wife-Winona, brothers-Robert, Richard and Mylon Schultz, and his sister-Evelyn (Reinhold) Toelle.
