Description	:	Norman William Damgaard, of Lindsay, Nebraska, died Monday, December 9, 2013 at Cloverlodge Care Center, St. Edward, Nebraska. Norman, son of William Borup and Bergitte Petrea Christine Christensen "Bertha" Damgaard, was born May 13, 1935 on the family farm south of Lindsay, Nebraska. Norman, son of William Borup and Bergitte Petrea Christine Christensen "Bertha" Damgaard, was born May 13, 1935 on the family farm south of Lindsay, Nebraska. Norman was baptized on the same day in Omaha, NE. Norman was confirmed in his faith at St. Ansgar Lutheran Church, Rosenberg, Nebraska. He received his education through the 10th grade at Platte County (NE.) School District # 64 and graduated from Newman Grove (NE.) High School in 1953. He attended Platte College, Columbus, Nebraska. Norman entered the United States Army in December of 1955 and served in Germany. Following his honorable discharge in November of 1957, Norman returned to the Lindsay, Nebraska area where he farmed and took flying lessons in Columbus and Omaha, Nebraska on the GI bill. He received his private and commercial pilot's license along with a helicopter rating. On June 23, 1990, Norman was united in marriage to Karla E. (Thoeming) Reardon at the St. Edward Catholic Church, St. Edwad, Nebraska. He was a member of St. Ansgar Lutheran Church, Rosenberg, Nebraska where he served as Secretary/Treasure of St. Ansgar's Cemetery Association, Lindsay, Nebraska. He was also a member of Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association, National Rifle Association and attended St. Edward Catholic Church, St. Edward, Nebraska. Surviving Norman are: wife, Karla Damgaard of Lindsay, Nebraska; stepdaughters, Kathy Cruise & husband Kevin of St. Edward, Nebraska and Peggy Soulliere of Columbus, Nebraska; stepson, Bill Reardon & wife Shawna of Yankton, South Dakota; step grandchildren, Kolby, Kaleb, Kasten, Keean, Kianna Cruise; William, Courtney, Chloe, Sophia, Thomas and Jonathon Reardon; Kylie Kell and Tristan Soulliere; step-great-granddaughter, Ashlynn and a host of family and friends. Norman was preceded in death by: parents and brother, Ivan Christensen Damgaard. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, December 13, 2013 at the St. Edward Catholic Church with Msgr. Ralph Steffensmeier officiating. Interment will follow at St. Ansgar Cemetery with Military Rites conducted by the American Legion Crosier Post #226 of St. Edward, Nebraska.
