He was born Dec. 20, 1930, in Rising City to Herman and Mattie Katharina (Buck) Hoeft. He attended Lutheran Grade School in Garrison and graduated from David City High School. On April 5, 1949, he married Evelyn From in Wahoo. He worked as a meat cutter at the Ankle Deep Locker Plant in David City, the York Packing Plant, and retired from many years with David City Grain. Hoeft, 78, of David City died Wednesday, April 29, 2009, at Butler County Healthcare Center. He was born Dec. 20, 1930, in Rising City to Herman and Mattie Katharina (Buck) Hoeft. He attended Lutheran Grade School in Garrison and graduated from David City High School. On April 5, 1949, he married Evelyn From in Wahoo. He worked as a meat cutter at the Ankle Deep Locker Plant in David City, the York Packing Plant, and retired from many years with David City Grain. He was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church. Survivors include: his wife; two daughters, Pam (and husband, Craig) Stephens of Destin, Fla., and Penny (and husband, Steve) Hohnholt of Smithville, Mo.; two sons, Bob (and wife, Vickie) Hoeft of Kansas City, Mo., and Rod (and wife, Denise) Hoeft of David City; a brother, Loran (and wife, Grace) Hoeft of David City; a sister, Florinda Christopher of Lincoln; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three sisters and a brother. The funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday at Redeemer Lutheran Church in David City with the Rev. David Palomaki officiating. Visitation will be from noon to 7 p.m. Sunday at Kracl Funeral Chapel in David City with family present from 4-6 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to service time Monday at the church. Burial will be in David City Cemetery.
