Kendall, 79, of 1908 W. Second St., died at 7:11 p.m. April 17, 1984, at Ottumwa Hospital. He was born Oct. 19, 1901, in Ottumwa to Gideon and Dora Gessley Kendall. He married Nellie Ward on July 30, 1966. He lived in Ottumwa all his life and was employed at the Hotel Ottumwa before retiring. He is survived by his wife; four stepdaughters, Nadine Sowden of Ottumwa, JoAnn Hatfield of Grand Junction, Colo., Twyla Tucker of Capolis Beach, Wash., and Margaret Lawson of Minn., Nev.; six grandchildren, 16 stepgrandchildren and 29 stepgreat-grandchildren; and a sister, Zelma Hubbard of Ottumwa. He was preceded in death by a son. The service will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Reece Funeral Home, the Rev. Harold Gilleney officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. The family will be at the funeral home from 7-8:30 p.m. today. Pallbearers will be Robert Lawson, Bill Sowden, Ray Mathis, Gary Hensley, and Leo and Mike Swallow. A memorial has been established to the family.
