Mr. Hill was born in 1792 at Fredericktown, Maryland, and emigrated to South Carolina, in early youth and from South Carolina to Ohio in 1809, becoming a resident of Goshen township then Miami. He enlisted in 1814 in Warren County, in Capt. Anderson's company of Col. Zumont's regiment, and served in the northwest until the close of the war. Mr. Hill was born in 1792 at Fredericktown, Maryland, and emigrated to South Carolina, in early youth and from South Carolina to Ohio in 1809, becoming a resident of Goshen township then Miami. He enlisted in 1814 in Warren County, in Capt. Anderson's company of Col. Zumont's regiment, and served in the northwest until the close of the war. He was drafted, first and discharged because of a crippled hand, but not satisfied he enlisted to take a share of the glory of thrashing the red "coats" and their nobler allies, the red-skins. After being discharged he married soon and removed to the farm partly in Warren and partly in Clermont on which he has continuously resided until his death last Tuesday a period of sixty-two years. He here endured the hardships and exposure of frontier life incident to the then unsettled condition of the country. His wife was born also in 1792 and died in 1875. They dwelt together in harmony and happiness for the unusual time of three score and one years, almost the time alloted by the Psalmist as the greatest age of men. He accumulated a competency and assisted his children to secure comfortable homes. He was married a second time to a Mrs. Willis about a year since who survives him. It can truly be said an honest, upright man and a good citizen has departed full of honor and of years, whose life merits more than a fleeting recollection.--Clermont Sun
