Arkfield Called To Her Heavenly Home PASSING AWAY FRIDAY MORNING AT BROWNING HOME IN SPIRIT LAKE Mrs. Ben Arkfield was called to her heavenly home Friday morning, Sept. 24, at the K. E. Browning place where they have made their home the past few months. She had been in poor health the past two years. Having spent nine months at the Mayo hospital at Rochester,Minn. later coming to Spirit Lake to the home of her grandmother, Mrs. J. T. Baker, Sr., where they spent the winter. In the spring Mr. and Mrs. Arkfield moved into an apartment of their own. Mrs. Arkfield was a young woman of many splendid traits of character and a very patient sufferer, never complaining and always cheerful and hopeful to the last. She slept quietly away. Mrs. Novella Lucille Arkfield, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Parr, was born at Viola Center, Audubon county, Iowa, Nov. 15, 1909. Her parents were divorced, her mother later married Albert Grady, to this union four children were born; Carlyle Albert, John Wesley, Joseph Kenneth, and Glen Orville. Mr. Grady passed away Jan. 4, 1920. In April, 1922, Margaret Grady was reunited in marriage to Charles Parr. To this union a daughter was born, DeElda Margurette, who was only a few days old when her mother passed away, Jan. 6, 1924, at Dubuque, Mrs. Novella Arkfield died at Spirit Lake, Sept. 24, 1937, age 28 years, 10 months, 9 days. Her younger days were spent in Iowa. Nov. 15, 1926, Novella Parr was united in marriage to Ben F. Arkfield at Spencer, Iowa, where they made their home for a short time, moving to Pipestone, Minn., where they made their home for two years going from there to California. In Sept, 1933, they moved to Webster, S.D., where they were in the cafe business. Due to Novella's poor health they came to Spirit Lake. Since that time Ben has devoted his entire time in taking care of his wife, doing all that was humanly possible to make her happy and comfortable. Besides her husband she leaves to mourn her passing four brothers; Carlyle of Leon; Wesley of San Diego, Calif., Ship U.S. Cincinnati: Joe and Glen Grady of Harris, and one sister, DeElda Parr, her grandmother, Mrs. J. T. Baker, Sr., and a host of close personal friends. While a young girl Mrs. Arkfield gave her heart to God. The body was taken to the Donovan Funeral Home and the services were held there Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Mrs. W.R. Strong officiating at the service. Burial was made in the Lakeview Cemetery beside her mother. Those attending the funeral from out of town were Carlyle Grady, of Leon; Joe and Glen, of Harris' Mr. and Mrs. Wils Baker, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Baker and family, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Sorensen, all of Superior; Mr. and Mrs. Ray Droll and daughter, Leah Jane and Peggy, of Spencer; Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Froendt, Mr. and Mrs. Myron Guge, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Stanwick, all of Jackson; Mrs. Wm.
