Description	:	He was born at Straits Corner, Tioga County, New York, the son of Joseph and Anna (Strait) Embody. He married Miss Lucy Welch on August 3, 1880, at the home of his father on Silver Creek, Lewis and Clark County. "Frozen to Death. News was brought to town last evening that the corpse of Mr. Embody was found, yesterday morning, between a neighbor's house and his own residence, near Silver City. Read More	He was born at Straits Corner, Tioga County, New York, the son of Joseph and Anna (Strait) Embody. He married Miss Lucy Welch on August 3, 1880, at the home of his father on Silver Creek, Lewis and Clark County. "Frozen to Death. News was brought to town last evening that the corpse of Mr. Embody was found, yesterday morning, between a neighbor's house and his own residence, near Silver City. The man had evidently frozen to death while endeavoring to reach home. We were unable to learn which one of the three men bearing the name mentioned met with such a sad fate, nor did we learn the particulars of his death. One report was that the deceased was going home from a visit to a neighbor, and another rumor was, that he was returning from town, having brought up a load of hay and disposed of the same in the city." Helena Independent, 12/29/1880. "Obe was driving a team of horses attached to a wagon, and was returning from town to the ranch. He stopped at a ranch along the road, to tune up a fiddle for some boys ‘batching' there. The horses were left standing when he went in, and when he came out the horses were gone. He started on foot to catch them, but he never caught up with them. The team reached home safely, but Obadiah perished on the way. His young wife, Lucy B. Welch, was home alone, and when daylight came she found the horses and wagon, but not Obe. She started out alone, going to the homes of Obe's brothers, to her father-in-law's place, and to the neighboring homes. They all started a searching party. He was found covered with snow, and the corner of a red sash which he was wearing, just sticking out of the snow. Lucy was six months pregnant when this happened." (courtesy of Norece Embody)
