| Description | : | Once called Back Settlement, Obediah was born in the New Cumberland Nova Scotia home of his father William Edward Corkum 1825-1889. Obediah, born 1860, died there in 1930. He is buried in the New Cumberland Cemetery alongside his parents within sight of his home. He used oxen to clear the land, worked on the roads (25 cents for him and 25 cents for the oxen), and raised sheep. New Cumberland is 18 miles from Bridgewater on the LaHave River.
