Description	:	HEMINGWAY – Mr. Ocie Chester Eaddy, age 100, widower of Sarah Capps Eaddy, passed away Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at a Florence hospital, surrounded by his loving family. Born December 17, 1912, in Hemingway, he was the son of the late Barton Eaddy and the late Agnes Olivia Altman Eaddy. Mr. Ocie attended the Hemingway High School and was a retired building contractor. He was a member of the Hemingway First Baptist Church. Read More	HEMINGWAY – Mr. Ocie Chester Eaddy, age 100, widower of Sarah Capps Eaddy, passed away Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at a Florence hospital, surrounded by his loving family. Born December 17, 1912, in Hemingway, he was the son of the late Barton Eaddy and the late Agnes Olivia Altman Eaddy. Mr. Ocie attended the Hemingway High School and was a retired building contractor. He was a member of the Hemingway First Baptist Church. Mr. Ocie had been a farmer and candy salesman and had worked for Civil defense in his earlier years. While working for Civil Defense in Charleston, SC, he invented a special tool to cut insulation. Finally he worked in construction for more than 20 years, having retired in 1980. He started a housing development in Hemingway. Survivors include his daughter, Mary Billie Eaddy Cribb of Hemingway and a sister, Opal Eaddy Oliver of Hemingway; seven grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Sylvia Eaddy Moore; sons in law, Billy Moore and Jimmy Cribb; brothers, Zollie Eaddy and Ives Eaddy; and sister, Olga Rogers Funeral services, conducted by Morris Funeral Home of Hemingway, were held at 11 AM Saturday, March 30, 2013 at the First Baptist Church. Interment followed in Lake Chapel Cemetery.
