Feb. 3, 1896, and died at her home north of Manchester on Tuesday, Dec. 21, 1937 at the age of 41 years, 10 months, and 18 days. Her early life was spent in Colesburg. On Dec. 29, 1921, she was united in marriage with Roy Ahrens of Dundee. One daughter, Clara Mae, was born to this union. Mr. and Mrs. Ahrens moved to a farm west of Dundee where they lived for five years, then moving to their farm which was her home when death called. On June 19 she became ill and was confined to her bed. For six months, while she lay in her helpless condition, she did not give up hope of recovery. Only during the past six weeks did she realize death was near. Mrs. Ahrens bore her suffering with patience knowing all that loving hands and medical care was being done. She was confirmed in the St. John's Lutheran church at Dundee by the pastor G. F. Melchert on Oct. 29, 1922. She had been a good wife and mother and a friend in time of sorrow and need. There remain to mourn besides her husband and daughter, five sisters and six brothers--Lincoln Phelps, Mrs. Delbert Meyer, Puyallup, Wash., Levi Phelps, Cassville, Wis., Mrs. John Jaster, Elkport, Ia, Mrs. Gordon Law, Waterville Wis., Mrs. John Knospe, Elkport, Mrs. Ernest Cole of LaPorte, Otto and Merten Phelps of Colesburg, Martin Phelps of Woodstock, Ill. and Wilbur Phelps of Iowa City, also many relatives and friends. Funeral services were held from the home at 12:30 p.m. and from the Lutheran church in Dundee at 1:30 p.m. Rev. Paul Matias officiating. Friday burial was made in the Springhill cemetery.
