Odilo Otto Kaschmitter was born on September 6, 1919 to John and Anna (Wilvert) Kaschmitter in Alton, IA. It was in Alton where Kash was raised and received his education. Read More	Odilo “Kash” Otto Kaschmitter, 96, died Monday, February 29, 2016 at Good Samaritan Village in Sioux Falls, SD. Odilo Otto Kaschmitter was born on September 6, 1919 to John and Anna (Wilvert) Kaschmitter in Alton, IA. It was in Alton where Kash was raised and received his education. Kash began his military service with the United States Navy in February of 1942 and honorably served aboard the destroyer USS Terry as a radio operator, during WWII until his discharge in 1945. Upon the breakout of the Korean War, Kash was called back into service in December of 1950, this time serving being stationed in San Francisco until his discharge in 1952. Kash was united in marriage with Marie Etta Jellema on June 20, 1942 in Chicago, Il. Kash and Marie made their home in Sioux Falls, SD in 1946 and were blessed with two sons. Kash worked for the City of Sioux Falls in the Assessors Office for 26 years, retiring in 1981. He was a member of First Reformed Church, The American Legion, and the Minnakota Campers Club. Kash enjoyed fishing, camping, playing cards, and doing all types of crafts. He loved spending time with his family and was very proud of all his grandchildren. Kash is survived by his two sons: Greg (Jennifer) Kaschmitter and Larry (Nancy) Kaschmitter, all of Sioux Falls, SD; five grandchildren: Eric Kaschmitter, Matthew (Abby) Kaschmitter, Darcy Schmidt, Katie (Randy) Lathen and Amy (Aaron) Knight; ten great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends. Kash was preceded in death by his parents, John Kaschmitter & Anna Kachmitter-Vortherms; wife, Marie Etta Kaschmitter on February 25, 2015; brother, Leonard Kaschmitter; and one sister, Vera McDonald. - George Boom Funeral Home
