Mr. Benson died suddenly at his home southwest of Cresco Tuesday, Sept. 26, the day before his birthday. He was preceded in death by his mother and one brother, Chas. Tony. Olaf was baptized Oct. 28, 1894, by Rev. Moses and confirmed by Rev. Lauritz Larsen in the class of 1914. On Feb. 16, 1922, he was married to Miss Tomena Johnson of Ridgeway by the Rev. D. C. Jordahl at the parsonage in Ridgeway. They lived 9 years east of Cresco and 8 years ago bought the DeGrote farm where they since have had their home. The funeral was held at the Bradley funeral home and the Cresco First Lutheran church Friday afternoon, September 29. It was very largely attended by members of his large family and many friends. Rev. H. M. Normann, his pastor, had charge. Burial was in the Lincoln church cemetery south of Ridgeway. Olaf Benson was a reliable, kind hearted Christian and steady church member.
