Description	:	Funeral services for Olaf L. Ness, 76, were held at 1:30 p.m., Saturday at Winnebago Lutheran Church, rural Lake Mills. The Rev. Henry Stolz officiated. Interment was in the church cemetery. Mr. Ness died May 4, 1983, in the Lake Mills Nursing Home. He was born February 4, 1907, in Center Township, Lake Mills, Iowa, to lngvald and Juri Ness. Ness, 76, were held at 1:30 p.m., Saturday at Winnebago Lutheran Church, rural Lake Mills. The Rev. Henry Stolz officiated. Interment was in the church cemetery. Mr. Ness died May 4, 1983, in the Lake Mills Nursing Home. He was born February 4, 1907, in Center Township, Lake Mills, Iowa, to lngvald and Juri Ness. He was baptized by the Rev. Nels Brun and confirmed by Rev. Johannes Granskou in Winnebago Lutheran Church where he belonged all his life. He attended the Mogan School, graduated from the Lake Mills High School, and studied at St. Olaf College for one year. In 1928 he married Agnes Fjone of Joice, living near Joice for one year before buying a farm south of Lake Mills where he lived the remainder of his life before moving to the Lake Mills Nursing Home one year ago. His first wife passed away in 1962; and in 1966 he married Ida Bergland Vermedahl. Olaf was active in the church, serving on the church council, building committee, brotherhood, and was church treasurer for a number of years. He was a member of the Winnebago Co. School Board and treasurer for the Center Township Schools. He headed the Winnebago Co. farm Bureau as its president for a number of years, was a member of the Farmers ,Co-op Elevator Board, and was selected as one of three men to travel to Washington D.C. to secure the original loan for the REA that brought electricity to the rural areas of Winnebago County. Preceding him in death were his parents, his first wife; two brothers, Alfred and Martin, and a sister, Louise, who died in infancy. He is survived by his wife, Ida; two daughters, Mrs. Don (Elaine) Bergan of Lake Mills; Mrs. Alden (Ruth) Lerohl of San Jose, California) and one son, Marvin Ness of LeRoy, Minnesota; two step- children, Claire Vermedahl of Albert Lea, Minn., and Mrs. Wayne (Lois) Halvorson of Luverne, Minn.; five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; seven step-grand children, and one step-great-grandchild. Pallbearer were the grandsons David Bergan, Loren Halvorson, David Folkerts, Harold Schuchmacher, Ross Vermedahl, Luther Halvorson, Eric Halvorson, and Andrew Lerohl and John Lerohl by proxy. Honorary pallbearers included Melvin Bergland, Jacob Grimstead, Gordon Kilen, Conrad Ness, Trygve Lenning and Pete J. Peterson. Mittelstadt Funeral me was in charge of arrangements.
