His death was a shock to his friends about town, many of whom did not know he had been ill. He had been ailing for a few days but was up and around later. Read More	Olav Holtgard Rites Held at Gol, Tuesday Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock for Olav Holtgard, who passed away at his home here last Thursday night at 8:30, of a heart ailment. His death was a shock to his friends about town, many of whom did not know he had been ill. He had been ailing for a few days but was up and around later. He again took to his bed and passed quietly away. Olav Holtgard was born at Marion, N.D., September 28th, 1910. He came here with other members of the family in 1936, when they took over the Kindred Hotel, which they operated until a few months ago. He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Oscar Holtgard, two brothers, Henry and Martin, both of Fargo, three sisters, Mrs. George Schmoker of Dickey, N. D., Mrs. Jack Erickson of Seattle, Wash., and Mrs. William Lovell of Bremerton, Wash., and a number of other relatives. The funeral was held at Gol church, with which the Holtgard family has held connection since they resided in that section before moving to Marion. Burial was in the family lot in Gol Cemetery. Rev. C. F. Turmo officiated and during the service Mrs. Oscar Erickson sang two numbers. The funeral arrangements were in charge of Oscar Muller, undertaker. Many floral offerings and memory wreaths were contributed by friends and relatives in memory of Olav, who was well liked in the community. He was a member of the Kindred Commercial Club and out of respect to one of their members the business places in Kindred were closed during the funeral. Honorary pallbearers were Alfred Olson, George Westland, Joe Iverson and William Plageman. Active pallbearers were Marvin and Frances Wyatt, Wilfred and Darold Holtgard, Arlan Thorstad and Arnold Otterson.
