Description	:	Ole Aslesen was born to Asle Kolbjornsen Orpen and Christi Eriksdatter Redalen. He immigrated to the United States with his family in approximately 1848 from the Sigdal, Buskerud, Norway area. The Aslesen family at some point Americanized their last name to Colby. Ole had the following siblings: Guro, Guri, Colbjorn, Erick, Christi, and Mary. Ole served with Company G of the 15th Wisconson Infantry Regiment which was known as the "Norwegian Regiment". 90% of the members of this regiment were born in Norway. Ole enlisted on Jan. 3, 1862 at Primrose, Wisconsin, and mustered out on Jan. 13, 1865. Ole's bother Erick also enlisted for three years. Ole was married to Gunbjor (?) Colby on November 19, 1865, at Blue Mounds, Wisconsin. After their marriage, Ole and Gunbjor moved to Iowa where they opened a post office and general store on April 15, 1871. This settlement was known as Colbyville. The Colbyville post office was the predecessor of the current Huxley, Iowa, post office. (from the General Services Administration of the National Archives). Ole is buried with two of his children: "baby" Colby and Harold Albert Colby in Huxley. Two daughters, Emma and Christena Colby, returned to Wisconsin with their Mother after Ole's death. Gunbjor and their daughters are buried there. Christena is buried in McFarland Cemetery, memorial #97248360. Colburn's memorial (69837395.) and Erick's (28776444.)
