Description	:	The family of Ole Stene, who emigrated to america in 1871 can be traced back to a little place called Flotthagen in Meldal. Tis was a tenant farm nicely situated on a plateau above the main farm Stene. Flotthagen had 2 acres of flat and fertile cultivated ground and 5 acres of not cultivated ground. The family lived there up to 1865. Little by little the houses broke down. Biring the second World War another people took over and built new houses there. After having helped his father with the work at the parsonage, he must have got some education by the minister, because he is tilled school teacher in the emigration reacords of the police station in Trondheim when he emigrated to America in July 1871. His name now is Ole Stene. By the ship "Norway" he left for Marquette, Mich. USA. This information was researched in Norway for Gene Numsen and provided to me. --daughter Mrs. Inga Louise Larson McManus I cannot find where she is buried--- ********************************* Union County Courier, Elk Point, SD, 25 Mar 1897, Page 8: "Death has again visited us and since our last writing three of our friends have been carried to their last resting place. Mrs. K.J. Ofstad died March 6 at the age of 79 years. She has been sick for the last six months, so death came as a happy relief. Two days after her grandchild, Conrad Ofstad died. He was 18 years old. On March 14 Ole J. Stene died after a short illness. He was taken with la grippe which settled on his brain, and he passed away unconscious.
