Services will be held in the Baltic church and burial will be in St. Olaf Cemetery. Ole J. Questad was born to Jacob O. and Ragnhild Questad May 3, 1854. In Ullensvang, Prestegjeld, Hardanger, Norway, and was baptized by Rev. Stub. Questad, who died at his home on Friday, October 11. Services will be held in the Baltic church and burial will be in St. Olaf Cemetery. Ole J. Questad was born to Jacob O. and Ragnhild Questad May 3, 1854. In Ullensvang, Prestegjeld, Hardanger, Norway, and was baptized by Rev. Stub. Together with his parents, three sisters, and three brothers, he emigrated to America in 1870, and located in Freeborn County, Minnesota. Here he was confirmed by Rev.B.B. Gjildaker of Silver Lake, Iowa. There they made their home until the spring of 1873 when they decided to Homestead on the new frontier the government had opened in the territory which is now Nebraska. On the journey West they met someone returning from Sioux Valley district in Dakota territory, who convinced them to change their plans and go to Sioux Falls, which they did and the senior Mr. Questad homesteaded in Lyons Township. When Ole became of age he homesteaded in Burke Township. He helped organize the Willow Creek congregation. On April 1, 1881, he was united in marriage to Anna Olena Nelson at Lime Creek, Minnesota. In 1886 they moved to Keyes, now a part of Baltic, where he entered into a partnership with his brother, Tom in a general store. Later they dissolved partnership and continued in the business alone until he retired in 1927. Mr. Questad took a great interest in the community and worked hard for church and civic welfare. He also helped organize the Willow Creek congregation at Baltic. After 57 years of married life, Mrs. Questad passed away in 1938. Eight children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Questad, six of whom are living. One child died in infancy, and (Otella) Mrs. Sidney Bennett, passed away in 1936. The four sons surviving are James, San Francisco, California; Sander at Baltic; Arthur, Walla Walla, Washington; Ernest at Mitchell; two daughters, Rose (Mrs. G.H. leslie, Northgate, North Dakota); Julia at Baltic, 12 grandchildren; one brother, J.J. Questad, Southgate, California. Pallbearers were Ole Thompson, Alfred Fossum, Alfred Thompson, Dan Eitrem, Wilmer Questad, M.B. Smemoe.
