Martinson, who passed away Last Tuesday, February 24, Rev. G. F. Butler conducted the services, and burial was made at Lakeview Cemetery. Ole M. Martinson was born near Oslo, Norway, on January 24, 1873. He passed away on Tuesday, February 24, at Spirit Lake, Iowa, at the age of 69 years and one month. Mr. Martinson had been in rather delicate health the past few years, but since he had suffered no serious illness, his sudden death came as a shock to his children and to the community. Mr. Martinson came with his mother to this counrty at the age of three. They settled near Willmar, Minn. When he was 14 years old his mother died leaving him an orphan. He made his home with uncles on their respective farms. He shared in the work of wheat farming, and took his turn at driving the oxen in plowing and threshing. He became Proficient in setting up new binders and in servicing broken machinery. In maturity he left the farm and obtained work at the general store in Wheaton, Minn. Then, seeking to better fit himself for a business career, attended St. Olaf's College and Archibald's Business College. He became an agent and traveled for a wholesale dry goods firm through southern Minnesota and northern Iowa for several years. On December 25, 1909, he was united in marriage with Miss Mable Morey at Minneapolis, Minn. To this union three children were born, two girls and a boy. The home was established in Minneapolis and Mr. Martinson became a salesman in the farm store there. In 1912 he completed his naturalization as a citizen of the United States of America. In the year 1920 he moved his family to Montgomery, Iowa and began the operation of the general store there. Eight years ago the family moved to Spirit Lake, and have since made their home here. Mr. Martinson has had considerable employment at the court house of Dickinson County, acting for some time as delinquent tax collector. Mr. Martinson had been a member of the Masonic and Knights Templar Lodges. He had received the 32nd degree in Masonry. In recent years he had ceased to be an active member. Mr. Martinson was quite unassuming person. His joy was his family, and he completely centered his interests in his home. One of his outstanding traits was his love of orderliness. He insisted on having everything clean, neat and in its place. When Mrs. Martinson died two years ago, he grieved deeply and had suffered much loneliness since. Surviving to mourn his passing are a son, Robert, of San Diego, Calif., two daughters, Mrs. Earl Miller and Betty Jean Martinson of Spirit Lake, and a half brother, Morris J.
