Description	:	Born Ole Olsen in Dybevig gaard in the parish of Leikanger in the Nordre Berhenhus amt (renamed Sogn og Fjordane fylke in 1919), he married Solvei Thomasdatter 26 Mar 1854, less than two weeks before departing for America. His parents were Ole Olsen (1773-1848) and Anna Botholdsdatter (1789-1852). Like his younger brother Ellend, who had traveled to America the previous spring with their sister Anna, Ole took the surname of Borlaug, the last place of residence before leaving Norway, in their new home north of Madison, Wisconsin.
