Mr. Hjelle was born March 7, 1883, at Volga, S.D., then a part of Dakota Territory, the son of Mr. and Mrs. John O. Hjelle. Read More	The Bismarck Tribune June 15, 1970 p. 19 Ole Hjelle, 87, a resident of Missouri Slope Lutheran Home died Sunday afternoon at a local hospital. Mr. Hjelle was born March 7, 1883, at Volga, S.D., then a part of Dakota Territory, the son of Mr. and Mrs. John O. Hjelle. He moved with his parents as a small boy to Decorah, IA where he attended school and was graduated in 1905 from Luther College. Later that year he came to North Dakota to teach school and to go into the banking business at Turtle lake and Mercer, in eastern McLean County. He had banking and other business and farming interests at Mercer until he moved in 1943 to Bismarck, where he was associated with the Bank of North Dakota for several years. Mr. Hjelle married Ella T. Myrah at Arthur, N.D., Nov 23, 1912. Mrs. Hjelle died in January, 1967. They had five children, John O. and Brandt V. Hjelle, Bismarck, and Donald, Patrick, David and Eunice all of Minneapolis. He also leaves a brother, Albert Hjelle, and two sisters, Mrs. Willard Torgrim, Mrs. Victor Hoeg, all of Decorah, Iowa, and another brother, Herman Hjelle, of Granite Falls, Wash. Funeral arrangements are pending at Boelter Funeral Home.
