Olga Elizabeth Feyerherm was born on June 1, 1932, near Wayne, Nebraska to Elisabeth (Holscher) and Herman Huntemann. Her parents, who had immigrated from Oldenburg Germany, later moved to a farm near West Point where they raised their six daughters and one son. Olga Elizabeth Feyerherm was born on June 1, 1932, near Wayne, Nebraska to Elisabeth (Holscher) and Herman Huntemann. Her parents, who had immigrated from Oldenburg Germany, later moved to a farm near West Point where they raised their six daughters and one son. When Olga was just five, she started first grade at School District 5, along with her older sister, Ursula. Because only German had been spoken at home, their parents wanted them to be together as they navigated a new school and a new language. The two sisters walked the mile and a half to school and back every day – even in rain and snow! In 1949, at age 16, Olga graduated from West Point High School – ready to teach school. By substituting Normal Training (preparation for teaching) for English classes in her junior and senior years, she earned her teaching certificate. In the fall after her high school graduation, at age 17, she began teaching at School District 45. On June 3, 1951, she was united in marriage to Orville Feyerherm at Grace Lutheran Church in West Point. They moved to the farm near Beemer that has been in the Feyerherm family since 1869. Orville and Olga took great pride in the family farm where they raised their seven children. For Olga, happiness was preparing a Sunday dinner entirely from food that was grown on the farm. Her large garden was tended lovingly and yielded a large variety of fruits and vegetables that were canned and frozen every summer. In 1989, she and Orville moved from the farm to a home in West Point. Orville and Olga shared a deep devotion to their faith and were active members of Immanuel Lutheran Church outside of Beemer until 2000 when they joined St. Paul Lutheran Church in West Point. Olga's greatest joy in life was her family – her children, grandchildren and great – grandchildren. Visits from family were eagerly anticipated by spending time in the kitchen preparing meals and baking her signature sugar cookies and iced cinnamon rolls. Olga was preceded in death by her husband, Orville, brother Henry, and sisters Elsbeth and Clara. She is survived by her children, Ronald Feyerherm of Lincoln NE; Karen and husband Clyde Summerville of Seattle WA and sons Peter and friend Riley Holman, and Andrew and wife Sierra; David and wife Kathy Feyerherm of West Point and daughters Kristina and partner Mike Santonocito, and Melanie and husband Christopher Schultz and children Meyer and Mable; Curtis and wife Shelly Feyerherm of Olathe KS and son Matthew and friend Madelinne, and stepchildren, Andrew, and Madison and husband Christian; John Feyerherm of Bennington NE and friend Becky Cattau; Alan and wife Vivian Feyerherm of Vienna VA and son Aiden; and James and wife Teresa Feyerherm of Hays KS and children Nicole, Alex, Alicia, Jessica and Angela; and by her sisters Ursula Clark, Dorothy (Everett) Minds and Lily (Norman) Petersen. Interment will be in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery.
