Description	:	courtesy of Fisch Funeral Home: Olga (Olgie) Rodriguez Langel, 87, said goodbye to her family and friends on Friday, August 25, 2017, and is now “Soaring on Eagles Wings.” Born to Astor & Laura Rodriguez on July 14, 1930, in New York City, New York, she met Richard Langel, and they married on November 28, 1953. Richard (Dick) Langel passed on December 3, 2007, and has been waiting for Olgie to join him. They are now reunited once again to watch over their legacy of 9 surviving children, Cindy, Mark, Rick, Leo, Derek, Michelle, Laura, George, and Renee; 29 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren. Richard (Dick) Langel passed on December 3, 2007, and has been waiting for Olgie to join him. They are now reunited once again to watch over their legacy of 9 surviving children, Cindy, Mark, Rick, Leo, Derek, Michelle, Laura, George, and Renee; 29 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren. Olgie was a woman of great intelligence, beauty, determination, and creativity, dressing every day with style and class. She loved her hats, scarves, music, and jellybeans. Throughout her life she had many talents and hobbies and excelled at each one. She could host a Bridge Club party that topped any of the secret parties her children threw in their parents’ absence. Creating quilts for her children out of their old clothes; crafting macramé masterpieces in the 1970s that she was convinced her children would fight over in the 2000s. Developing bird and squirrel havens that brought her immense joy. Ceramic creations that survived to take pride of place in family gardens and homes. Growing her Angel Wing plants and sharing them with special people in her life. Cooking some of the most amazing meals, especially her spanish rice, and seasoning everything with her Secret Special Spices. She was true to her word and “took the secret ingredients to her grave.” Olgie imparted many valuable lessons throughout her life. Some to live by and others, well . . . not so much. o Never throw anything away, you will always find a use for it later, no matter how many years it takes. o Bricks work great as shelving; they can survive multiple moves. o Vicks can cure almost anything. o Rum does NOT taste better when used as the main ingredient for cake. o Tomato soup made with milk and elbow macaroni is a major food group. o Lime Vodka Slush made for bridge club parties needs to be stored at the back of the freezer out of reach of minor children who think it tastes GREAT. and, o Hot wheel tracks can serve a dual purpose when you need to keep several rowdy children in line. We love you, Mom, and will always cherish the memories you made. Just remember, God does not allow shit lists in heaven. It was Olgie’s wish to have a private graveside ceremony, where she will be laid to rest next to the man she loved, our Dad, Dick Langel, at Calvary Cemetery in LeMars, Iowa. Arrangements have been entrusted to Fisch Funeral Home & Monument, Remsen, Iowa. Olgie’s family would like to express its sincere gratitude to the Saint Croix Hospice staff for the incredible services they provided during Mom’s time of greatest needs. A special thank you to Rebecca Jennings, who gave Mom the blessing of music and the ability to be “Lifted up on Eagles Wings.”
