Father Thomas Au and Father Frank Machovec were officiants. Mrs. Ostdiek, daughter of Henry and Mary Rempe, was born in Mount Clare January 30, 1907. She attended St. Stephen's School. October 8, 1928, she was united in marriage with William M. Ostdiek at St. Stephen's Catholic Church south of Lawrence. They lived on a farm southeast of Lawrence until 1975, when they moved to Lawrence and retired. Oliva was a member of both the St. Stephen's and the Sacred Heart Altar Societies during her lifetime. She spent the last eight years of her life residing at the Good Samaritan Center in Nelson. Preceding her in death were her parents, Henry and Mary; a brother, Louis; a sister, Lena; and her husband, William. Survivors include a sister, Alice Rempe of Superior; a daughter, Marian Hoelting, two grandsons and four great grandchildren, all of Lawrence. ========================== Lawrence Locomotive (Lawrence, NE), Thursday, December 16, 1993; pg. 1 Oliva M. Father Thomas Au and Father Frank Machovec of Superior were celebrants of the Mass of the Resurrection. Linda Ostdiek was organist and Ed Kalvoda led the congregational singing. Pallbearers were grandsons Paul and Kurt Hoelting, Jack Lemke, Raymond Schendt, John Ostdiek and Lavern Schroer. Oliva was born January 30, 1907 near Mt. Clare, Ne. to Henry and Mary (Kaupel) Rempe. She attended St. Stephen's school. On October 8, 1928, she was united in marriage to William Ostdiek at St. Stephen's Catholic church (sic). They lived on a farm southeast of Lawrence. To this union a daughter, Marian was born. They retired to Lawrence in 1975. William passed away February 17, 1986. The past eight years Oliva resided at the Good Samaritan Home in Nelson. Oliva was a member of the St. Stephen's Altar Society and the Sacred Heart Altar Society. She always contributed her time and effort to the church activities. She will be remembered as a warm and loving mother and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother Louis, a sister Lena and her husband. Survivors include her daughter Marian Hoelting, a sister Alice Rempe, two grandsons and four great grandchildren.
