Graveside services will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 18, 2015, at the Evergreen Cemetery in Britt with Pastor Brock Youngren officiating. Olive Arlene Gauthier was born February 5, 1928, in Britt, Iowa, the daughter of Charles and Mary Ellen (Maxon) Hoff. She grew up in Britt where she attended school and later graduated from the Britt High School. Olive was united in marriage to Irvin Brown and they lived in Kansas City. To this union a son was born. While living in Kansas City, Olive worked at a local hospital. After Irvin died, Olive later married Donald Gauthier and they also lived in Kansas City. After Donald's death Olive moved to Peoria, Illinois. She helped as Senior Volunteer at a hospital while in Peoria. In 2011, Olive moved to Algona to be closer to her sister. Olive died Tuesday, July 14, 2015, at the Kossuth Regional Health Center in Algona. She was 87. She is survived by her son, Gene Brown and wife Jamey of Raytown, Missouri; grandchildren, Jeanette Brown, Christy and Randy Taylor, Dale Brown, Sarah Brown; four great-grandchildren and a sister, Ruby Thomas of Algona. She is also survived by many cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands and a sister, Dorothy Smith.
