It is needless for us to comment on this spendid woman. Her neighbors speak of her only in words of praise. Her home was of such hospitality that its fame is known by every one who ever has been in that home. Whatever matters came for the betterment and happiness of their home community found in Mr. and Mrs. Granteer willing assistance. None of us could think that she ever had an enemy and she came near that ideal state of life. The floral offerings bespoke the love and regard in which she was held. Funderal services were held from the home Monday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Clarence Moore of Wesley Chapel church, assisted by Rev. F.A. Smith of Hastings. Music for the services was by a Wesley Chapel quartet. Burial was in the Cotton cemetery, near the home. The following obituary was read at the services: Olive Jane Peterson, eldest daughter of Embert and Mary Peterson, was born in Mills County, Ia. (in this immediate vicinity), January 12, 1871. She died August 11, 1922, at the age of 51 years and 7 months. She was united in marriage to Z.T. Granteer August 19, 1886. To this union was born two daughters, Doris, who died at the age of seven years and seven months, and Dottie, aged 15 years. Besides her husband and daughter, Mrs. Granteer leaves two sisters, Mrs. G.A. and H.K. Sindt of Woodbine, Ia.; Roy Granteer of Hastings, Mrs. C.C. Genung of Atkinson, Neb., Mrs. Ida Demmel of Collins, Colo., Mrs. Nellie Babbitt of Ortonville, Minn., stepchildren. Also many other relatives and friends who are bereaved because she whom God has taken, is greatly missed. Our hearts are in sympathy for the husband, Mr. Granteer, and his daughter Dottie because of the loss of their best friend in the world. Death is a common foe. Each of us have stood and wept in the presence of this undesired guest. He came to our home one day and took a dear friend away. We, too, are comrades to those who weep for departed friends. Our hearts are filled with pleasing emotion when we think of Mrs. Granteer's devotion to her home and of her unselfish spirit towards her neighbors and friends. In fact, neither the past nor the future looks dark. Only yesterday, as it were, three good friends lived here sharing life's problems together. Wherever these three chose to be, whether at home, at church, or in town, they appeared to be pleased with one another--these three were true friends. But when we consider the reward of one who has been so loyal to home ties and maintained such an exalted place in the lives of her closest relatives as Mrs. Granteer evidently did, we stand in awe and reverence and patiently wait for the final word to be spoken by our Heavenly Father who makes and keeps homes, and secretly guards eternal rewards for those who respect and keep home ties and bear the burdens and graces of true motherhood. The present is a bit grievous, but the past being commendable, the future is hopeful of a new, clear day.
