Born in Harrison County, Ia., June 20, 1854, she moved with her parents to a farm near Oto, Ia., when she was a year old. Mrs. Francis had been a resident of Woodbury county continuously since 1855. She was married to Joseph Francis August 6, 1871, at Oto. They celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary here August 6, 1928. They moved to Sioux City 15 years ago. Surviving are her widower; eight sons, George Francis of Kettle Falls, Wash., Stephen, Calvin, Leonard and Hobert Francis, all of Hornick, Ia., Laurence and John Francis, both of Sioux City, and Ira Francis of Pierson, Ia.,; five daughters, Mrs. Alice Ringrose of Des Moines, Mrs. Victoria Ganoe of Sloan, Ia., Mrs. Arnold of Hornick, Ia., and Mrs. Ruth Bower and Mrs. Ollie Jackson, both of Smithland, Ia.; six sisters, Mrs. Mary Dunham, Los Angeles, Mrs. Nellie Renolds of Terry, Mont., Miss Martha Miller of Sloan, Mrs. Will Foster of Getty’s, S.D., Mrs. Charles Thompson and Mrs. Perry Coon, both of Oto; two brothers, Nathan Miller and John Miller, both of Oto; 43 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
