Day, of Cheyenne, on Thursday, Jan. 22, 1903, passed from pain and sickness, from friends and relatives, to rest. She was born near New Castle, Gentry county, Missouri, Nov. 27, 1876, being 26 years, 1 month and 26 days old at the time of her death. She came with her parents to Osborne county, Kansas, in 1879, and made her home here until she married to Marion F. McElfresh on Jan. 1, 1896.To this union were born three children-Jessie Florence, who is six years old, Elmer Elvin, four years and Johnnie Harold, one year old. The deceased leaves a father, mother, three brothers, two sisters and a host of friends to mourn her loss. Her family was all with her except Mrs. Effie Mason and Frank Day, who are in Oklahoma and she and her husband and children were visiting her father and mother and Mr. Barber, Mr. McElfresh's uncle. When stricken with typhoid fever and plural pneumonia she only lived six days. All the care and attention that friends and relatives could bestow and the best of medical attendance was given, but in vain. She came home to die with mother. She will be remembered some ten years ago as a school girl in Osborne, when she had many friends. The pall bearers were former school mates of the deceased and included Ella Curry, Stella and Sarah Shull, Vinnie Spaulding, Mary and Vina Risley. The funeral services were held at Cheyenne, conducted by Rev. Birch, of the U.B. church, on Jan. 24. Interment was made in the Cheyenne cemetery. The deceased was a member of the Presbyterian church and to the husband her death is particularly sad. He is robbed of a true friend and counselor. The children are left without the care and guidance of a kind mother. Her father, mother, brothers and sisters are made to feel that in death's visit the prophecy of the Lord's return for them is fulfilled. We would have death spare her to cheer and comfort her husband in the evening of his life and to walk before her dear children in all the ways of a loving and devoted mother. But we cannot command death. Dearest Olive, how we'll miss you, Oh, it grieves our aching hearts; For you've broke our family circle, When from us you did depart. Dearest Olive, you have left us, We from you no more can part; In this cold world of sorrow, God alone can mend our broken heart.
