Born in Waycross, Ga., he was a son of the late Moses Carter and the late Rebecca Carter. He was a member of Long Branch Baptist Church. Read More	Oliver Henry Carter, 69, husband of Ruby Ray Carter, died Friday, July 29, 2005, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center. Born in Waycross, Ga., he was a son of the late Moses Carter and the late Rebecca Carter. He was a member of Long Branch Baptist Church. He retired after 21 years of service as a master sergeant in the U.S. Air Force, having served in the Vietnam War. He also retired from Campbell Soup Co. and Gold Kist as a maintenance supervisor. He was an avid hunter and was a member of the Turkey Oaks Hunting Club and former member of the Hillside and Riverside Hunting Clubs. Survivors besides his loving wife, Ruby, include a daughter, Michelle Brownlee of Timmonsville; a son, Craig Carter of Arlington, Va.; and three brothers, Charles Carter, Harold Carter, and Moses Carter, all of Waycross. Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Monday in the Long Branch Baptist Church with the Rev. Carroll Waddell and the Rev. Tommy Comer officiating. Burial will be in the Long Branch Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Charles Barwick, Larry Causey, Bob Guinther, M.B. Hunter, Richie Ray, and Billy Thompson. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the home. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, 400 Percival Road, P.O. Box 6604, Columbia, SC 29260-6604.
