Description	:	Olivia Bassinger, daughter of Jacob and Mary Bassinger, was born in Mahaska County, December 13th, 1850, and passed away at her home in Eddyville Sunday morning at 5 o'clock aged 75 years, 3 months and 21 days. August 4th, 1867, she was united in marriage to George B. Kelley, and to this union were born four children two of whom preceded her in death. Mr. Kelley passed away in September, 1889. Read More	Olivia Bassinger, daughter of Jacob and Mary Bassinger, was born in Mahaska County, December 13th, 1850, and passed away at her home in Eddyville Sunday morning at 5 o'clock aged 75 years, 3 months and 21 days. August 4th, 1867, she was united in marriage to George B. Kelley, and to this union were born four children two of whom preceded her in death. Mr. Kelley passed away in September, 1889. She was married to R.M. Young on June 7th, 1891, who preceded her in death. When sixteen years of age she united with the Christian church to which she has ever remained a faithful member, always attending the services whenever her health permitted. It has been only recently that she expressed herself as willing and ready to go. She was a kind and patient mother, a great lover of home, and one of her chief delights was in having the children with her at the Christmas season when all were remembered with a gift. The deceased was also loyal to her country and it was with a patriotic spirit that she observed the special national holidays. She leaves to mourn: two daughters, Mrs. J.L. Moore of Cedar and Mrs. Etna Newell of Ottumwa; thirteen grandchildi-en, twenty-four great-grandchildren and one great great-grandchild; two sisters: Mrs. Florence Arnold of Cedar and Mrs. Alma Mayer of Eddyville; one brother, F.E. Bassinger of Longmont, Colorado, and a host of other relatives and friends. Three great-grandchildren also precede her in death. The funeral services were held from the Church of Christ Tuesday afternoon at two o'clock. Rev. R.L. Morrow officiated, using the lesson from the 14th chapter of St. John, as requested by the deceased, who had also selected the songs that were sung by a quartette composed of Mrs. Gwylim Evans, Mrs. Carl Powell, C.L. Phillips and Roy Lafferty, with Mrs. R.L. Morrow as accompanist. She was laid to rest in Highland cemetery. Her grandsons, Theodore Parsons, Dave, Zack and George Newell, Edward Fuhs and Willis Shaw, acted as pall bearers. (From the EDDYVILLE TRIBUNE, THURSDAY, APR. 8, 1926)
