Description	:	There is some confusion surrounding this child. According to a transcription of the baptism records of Zion Lutheran Church, Lunenburg there was a child born to Caleb and Sarah on February 18, 1861 but the name was garbled and appears as "Paulmarun Olivia Corkum". The baptism date was May 1, 1861 which sounds reasonable. There however is a second entry of a baptism of a child of Caleb and Sarah on December 18 with no birth date indicated but the name here is clearly "Pamela Olive Corkum". "Paulmarun" sounds much like "Pamela" so they obviously have to be duplicate entries... Read More	There is some confusion surrounding this child. According to a transcription of the baptism records of Zion Lutheran Church, Lunenburg there was a child born to Caleb and Sarah on February 18, 1861 but the name was garbled and appears as "Paulmarun Olivia Corkum". The baptism date was May 1, 1861 which sounds reasonable. There however is a second entry of a baptism of a child of Caleb and Sarah on December 18 with no birth date indicated but the name here is clearly "Pamela Olive Corkum". "Paulmarun" sounds much like "Pamela" so they obviously have to be duplicate entries for the same child. (Whether the child was baptized twice is anyone's guess!) This tombstone for a child of Caleb named "Olivia" says died 1861, aged 2 years 6 months. This has to be the Pamela Olivia in the birth records born in 1861 who if age is correct would then have died about August 1863. There is no death record so unable to prove this. The family seemed very careful about having all children baptized and there is no other Olivia in the baptism records. All the children of Caleb and Sarah were born about 1½ years apart without exception (minimum 15 months, maximum 21 months, most 17-18 months). Six of the thirteen children died very young (three girls, three boys) and except for the last born Edward (d. 1870) who has no tombstone, the other five are all recorded on the two tombstones (this one for the three girls, and a nearby one for two boys.) There is no Pamela on any tombstone which means that she was probably called by her middle name Olivia (which was common in the family) and this is her tombstone. Therefore I suggest that the tombstone is showing the birth year in error and not the death year. The tombstones for the children were likely erected some years after their deaths and obviously some errors were made either by the family or the engraver. (Rod Corkum)
