Opitz was born on Sunday, March 28, 1926 to George and Ludmilla (Orslan) Opitz near Roslyn, South Dakota. She attended country school near her home. She was united in marriage to Gerald Opitz on June 27, 1946 at Eden. After their marriage the couple made their home near Eden. Her husband, Gerald passed away in October 2010. After his death she remained on their farm until the present time. Olivia was a member at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Eden and was active in the Altar Society. She was a housewife and made many crafts and quilts. Olivia passed away on Sunday, April 12, 2015 at Webster, South Dakota at the age of 89 years and 15 days. Survivors include two children, LeRoy (Judy) Opitz of Roslyn and Linda (Eric) Hall of Roslyn; two grandsons, Danny Opitz of Eden and Wyat Hall of Roslyn; one sister, Alvina Opitz of Browns Valley, MN; two sisters-in-law, Margie Opitz and Audrey Opitz; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, father, mother, 4 brothers, and 2 sisters. - Fiksdal Funeral Home
