Description	:	Olaf H. Oman, son of Nels and Josephine Oman, was born at Boone, Iowa May 10, 1880, and died in Wray on September 27, 1956 at the age of 78 years, four months and seventeen days. Oman, son of Nels and Josephine Oman, was born at Boone, Iowa May 10, 1880, and died in Wray on September 27, 1956 at the age of 78 years, four months and seventeen days. Death came suddenly as he was watching a Saturday night television program. Shortly before his death he had remarked how well he had felt during the day. In spite of his age he was up and about town caring for himself at all times. Throughout his life he was blessed with good health. His youth was spent with his parents on a farm near Lyons, Nebraska. On May 24, 1905, he was married to Hulda C. Wicklund at a beautiful home wedding in Lyons. In 1955 with his family present their golden wedding anniversary celebration at the Christian Church in Wray was greatly enjoyed by them and many relatives and friends as a happy occasion for all. In 1913 Mr. and Mrs. Oman and their family pioneered from Nebraska to a homestead near Cope. They made their home near Cope until 1927, when they moved to Wray, which has been their home since, except for four years on the home place near Lyons, Nebraska. In 1942 Mrs. Oman's love and devotion to his wife was shown by his tender care for her as she recovered from a stroke. The Omans united with the Christian Church in Wray shortly moving there. For several years Mr. Oman was superintendent of a community Sunday School near his home near Cope. His Christian life was an inspiratioin to his family and those who knew him. He lived a full life of hard work, optimism, cheer, devotion to his family, and service to others. He always prided himself in his youthful appearance, and that in spite of his age, there was not a gray hair in his head of hair. Left to be inspired by his full life are his four daughters, Mrs. Esther Jameson of Thedford, Nebraska, Mrs. Anna Sundquist of Lyons, Nebraska, Mrs. Lillie McGinnis of Wray, Mrs. Jennie Monk of Yuma, and one son, Herbert, of Wray, a brother Reuben Oman of Castle Rock. There are nineteen grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren, including one pair of twins, a great joy to Mr. Oman. Also, his many friends will miss "Olie" as he was known to so many. He was preceded in death by his wife, Hulda, in 1956, and a sister, Lillie Swanson, in 1938. His father passed away in 1932 and his mother in 1929.
