He died on Feb. 21, 1992 at the Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison at the age of 73 years. Ole was baptized as an infant and confirmed in the Lutheran Faith on Oct. 25, 1931 in the Country Church at Soldier. He lived with his family on various farms in the Kenwood, Charter Oak and Ute areas and received his education in rural schools in the region. On Oct. 2, 1938, Ole was united in marriage to Helen Wessel at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Dow City and were blessed with nine children. Ole farmed in the Dow City area and then moved to Denison in 1960. He was employed as a truck driver and then as a police officer and maintenance worker for the city of Deloit. He subsequently worked as a maintainer operator for Crawford County, a job he was particularly fond of, and remained there until his retirement in 1979. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Deloit and the Izaac Walton League West Central Chapter. In his free time, Ole enjoyed gardening, hunting and fishing, especially, Northern Pike, and looked forward to the time he spent with Helen at their trailer in Spirit Lake. His family was very important to him as illustrated in the time he shared with them including the celebration of every anniversary with the entire family. He was preceded in death by his parents, one infant son, Lyle Laverne; five brothers, Oskar, Milo, Oscar, Wallace and Raymond; four sisters, Olga, Mary, Selena and Otella. Survivors include his wife Helen of Deloit; four sons, Robert and his wife Roseann of Kiron, Wayne and his wife Jan of Spickard, Mo., Gene and Gordon both of Denison; four daughters, Dona Siemer and her husband Rex of Spickard, Mo., Diana Blunk and her husband Lonnie of Princeton, Mo., Debra Schubert and her husband, Creston of Galva, and Cindy Hoffmeier and her husband Ron of Deloit. Other survivors include 23 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, one brother Glenn and his wife Dorothy of Council Bluffs, and one sister Ethel Baldwin of Woodland, Calif. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 24, 1992 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Denison with Rev. Hilmer Hafner officiating the service and graveside rites held in the Soldier Lutheran Church Cemetery, Soldier. Karen Kahl provided the organ accompaniment for the congregational hymns "What a Friend We Have in Jesus," "I'm But a Stranger Here," and "Crown Him with Many Crowns." Pallbearers were Glenn Thompson, LaVerne Olson, Dewaine Olson, Delbert Olson, Vinton·Sharp and Jessie Sharp. The family invited everyone to return to the church and join them in fellowship and lunch served by the Ladies Aid. Funeral arrangements were made under the direction of the Walter A. Huebner and Sons' Funeral Home in Denison.
