She constantly remained faithful to the idea that just around every corner will always lay a new path of hope. Read More	Mrs. Oma "Rose" Loramore Dillard Cheek, loving wife and best friend of the late Marvin Jacob Cheek of Hamptonville, passed away Monday, Sept. 4, 2006, at the age of 81. She constantly remained faithful to the idea that just around every corner will always lay a new path of hope. She filled our lives with laughter, love and a sense of faith that will forever live on within our memories. She showed us just what it meant to love and portrayed to us a great model of graciousness and vigilant courage. Rose was born Nov. 19, 1925, in Bluefield, W.Va., to John Reiley Dillard and Lilly Jane Muncey Dillard. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Marvin Cheek; three sisters, Willie Duncan, Nita Shook and Alma Bumgarner; and five brothers, Frank, Bob, Vernie "Bunny", Walter and John Virgil Dillard. She is survived by her three children, her daughter, Kathryn (Harry) Steelman, of Yadkinville; her son, Dolan (Gwynda) Cheek, of Yadkinville; and her daughter, Keretha (Mickey) Shore, of Farmington; five grandchildren; Marnie (Gene) Matthews; Jason (Alesha) Cheek; Grant (Pam) Steelman; Nikki Shore; and Jaci Cheek; four great-grandchildren; Sidney, Sarah and Derek Matthews and Emma Cheek; two stepgreat-grandchildren, Katelyn Thorn and Dylan Shore; a loving sister, Alice Triplett, of Hickory; brothers-in-law Odell (Ellen) Cheek and Jim Cheek; as well as several special nieces and nephews. Her funeral service will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 7, at Longtown United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Heather Kilbourne and the Rev. Nathan Kirkpatrick officiating. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today, Sept. 6, at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville, which is serving the Cheek family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Longtown United Methodist Church, Longtown Road, Boonville NC 27011, or Hospice and Palliative CareCenter, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103, for the Marvin and Oma "Rose" Cheek Remembrance Wall. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Pam Harden; Dr. Stacy Wentworth at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center for all her concern and visits; and to the caring staff at Davie Hospice Home Care and at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. We are ever so grateful for the love, support and caring words that you shared with our mother and grandmother during the final stages of her life.
