Stanley whose death was recorded in last weeks Bulletin, occured at the Methodist church Thursday morning, March 22nd at 10 o'clock with the pastor, Rev. Edward Forrest, in charge, assisted by Revs. W. C. Carter and A. L. Roberts. The building was well filled by citizens of the town, who had gathered to pay their last tribute of respect to a well known and much respected citizen who had lived many years in this community. The sermon was delivered by the pastor in a very touching manner, paying high tribute to his devotion and his ability as a citizen. Funeral services were concluded at the grave in the Beebe cemetery. The deceased was son of John and Elizabeth Yancy Stanley and born in West Virginia in 1830 and moved with his parents to Jackson, Tenn. when quite a child. He married Jane Lauffert in 1852 and had thus been married 65 years. He was a carriage maker by trade which he followed all his earlier life. In 1860 he and family moved to Austin, Ark., where they lived four years. He served one year in the civil war in Glenn's regiment in the quarter masters department. They then lived one year in Perry county, Illinois, returning to DeValls Bluff in 1865 where he worked in the governmenst hops. From there they moved to Searcy and afterward to Cane township, removing to Beebe about thirty years ago. Of their ten children they are survived by seven, Bruce and C. W. Stanley and Mrs. W. D. Smith of Beebe, James Stanley of Newport, Mrs. Emma Bode of O'Kean, Mrs. Lewis of Vilonia and Mrs. Gertrude Morrison of Texas. Mr. Stanley was an active man up to within a few years of his death, interested in church work, having been for many years an active member and officer in the Methodist church.
