Description	:	Omer J. Tracy Jr. was born June 24, 1924, in Harper, Kansas, and passed away Monday, May 31, 2010 in Kingman, Kansas. He was the fifth child of Omer J. Tracy Sr. and Sallie F. McCrady. He was raised on the family farm 6 miles northwest of Harper, Kansas, and he attended Fairview #35 Grade School and Harper High School. On June 30, 1947 he was united in marriage to Helen Lucille Ruhsert in Wellington, Kansas, and to this union three children were born: Ronald Wayne, Marilyn June, and Jacquie Lucille. He was the fifth child of Omer J. Tracy Sr. and Sallie F. McCrady. He was raised on the family farm 6 miles northwest of Harper, Kansas, and he attended Fairview #35 Grade School and Harper High School. On June 30, 1947 he was united in marriage to Helen Lucille Ruhsert in Wellington, Kansas, and to this union three children were born: Ronald Wayne, Marilyn June, and Jacquie Lucille. The family lived northwest of Harper, from 1949 to1976. At this location he farmed several acres of crop land, raised livestock, and enjoyed fishing in the family pond. During several winters he worked at the Aircraft plants (Boeing, Cessna, and Lear Jet) in Wichita, Kansas. When he was younger he and his son, Ron, would do custom cutting starting in Oklahoma and sometimes ending in Wyoming. The custom cutting would often end with summer vacations for the family, and one of the most memorable was a trip to Yellowstone National Park. Many a Sunday afternoon was spent playing badminton and softball with his family in the front yard. He also enjoyed taking his children and grandchildren to the yearly Joyland "Shrine Day". It was always a special treat for him to take his children and grandchildren to help feed the cows. He and Lucille were very active as 4-H leaders with the Grandview 4-H Club, and they were also members of the Harper Saddle Club for many years. While his children attended Grandview School, he served on the Grandview School Board. In January 09, 1946 he joined the Masonic Lodge #206 in Harper, were he was a member for 64 years. While being an active Mason he held the following offices: Tyler 1952; Jr. Steward 1954; Jr. Deacon 1955; Sr. Deacon 1956; Jr. Warden 1957; Sr. Warden 1958; Master 1959; Sr. Steward 1960. He became a 32nd Degree Mason which is the highest level you can achieve. On November 11, 1946 he joined the Scottish Rite, in Wichita, Kansas and in 1948 became a member of the Wichita Median Shrine. He was a member of the Harper County Shrine for many years, and he served as president in1978. One of the things he enjoyed over the years was being a member of the "Bucking T's". For many years he and fellow members drove the "Bucking T" through numerous parades throughout the region. After attending these events, many humorous stories were told, including "losing" the Bucking "T" at the Springs corner south of Anthony on the way back from a parade in Oklahoma. In 1976 Jr. and Lucille moved to the Ruhsert family farm were they continued their farming career. For several years he was a member of the Anthony Farmer's Coop, and during that time he served on the board. After Lucille's death in February 1989 he continued to live on the Ruhsert farm. In August 1994 he married Gloria J. Rinke of Harper, in Las Vegas, Nevada. During their marriage they enjoyed traveling in the Midwest and visiting family members in Wichita and Medicine Lodge. They lived on the Ruhsert family farm southeast of Harper until June 2009 He is preceded in death by wife Lucille; brothers John E. Tracy, Harold J. Tracy, Ray E. Tracy, and Donald (Hoppy) E. Tracy a cousin who was raised in the home. He will be greatly missed by his wife Gloria of Harper; son Ronald Wayne and wife Gloria of Wichita; daughters Marilyn June Tracy of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Jacquie Lucille Goodspeed of Harper. Sisters, Juanita Scholl and Ruby Wiemeyer both of Wichita, Bessie Mae Kreipe of Arkansas City, and John (Barney) A. Tracy, a cousin also raised in the home who resides in Wellington; nine grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild and numerous friends and relatives. He will be especially missed by his favorite dancing partner, Elliott Irwin.
