Steinbrink, 78, of rural Elwood, Nebraska, died December 27, 1991 at Tri-County Hospital, Lexington, Nebraska. She was born August 6, 1913 southwest of Elwood to Francis and Ethel Lauhead Baisinger. She was raised on the family farm, attended rural school at Brace Precinct for four years. On May 23, 1936 she married Leo Steinbrink at the Presbyterian Parsonage in Lexington, Nebraska. They started farming southeast of Bertrand, on the Perry Lewis (Grandpa Lewis) farm. Due to the drought, they left the farm and Leo found construction work at O'Neill and Omaha, Nebraska. Leo began work with the Goedhart Construction Company and this took them to California, Oregon, and Idaho. After seven years, Leo and Ona returned to the farm and were living there at the time of her death. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Leo and George; and one sister, Dora Dabney. She was a member of the Fir Christian Church of Elwood and the Christian Women's Fellowship. Her service over the years to the church included Sunday School teacher, CYF sponsor, church choir, pianist, officer of CWF, and faithful member. She had belonged to several community clubs; Alex Club, Elwood Quilters, Pleasant Home Club, MTM club, and Clio Club. She enjoyed her garden and house plants. She liked crocheting, knitting, china painting, quilting, woodcrafts, and many forms of handwork. Her creations are treasured by her family and friends. Left to cherish her memory and her husband, Leo, of Elwood; and daughter, Carolyn Steinbrink Shenandoah, Iowa; one son Allen his wife Geraldine, and their son Nathaniel and Jonathan Steinbrink of Arapahoe, one brother Dr.__ Baisinger and his wife Dolly; two brothers-in-law, Earl Steinbrink and his wife Frances, and Cal Dreher, seven sisters-in-law, Dora Baisinger, Frances Baisinger, El__ Burch, Velma Steinbrink, Delores Steinbrink, Ethel Steinbrink, and Lillian Steinbrink; and many other beloved relatives and friends. Services were held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, December 30, 1991 at the First Christian Church of Elwood with the Reverend John Hammond officiating. Burial was in the Elwood Cemetery with Berryman Funeral Homes of Elwood in charge of arangements. A memorial has been established to the Christian Women's Fellowship.
