Read More	Opal Anna Martin June 17, 1923 - January 16, 2015 Corriganville, MD-Opal Anna Martin, 91, of Corriganville, MD, passed away Friday, January 16, 2015, at Allegany Health Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Born June 17, 1923, in Corriganville, MD, Mrs. Martin was the daughter of the late Bernard Earl Martin and Julia Naomi (Lapp) Martin. She was also preceded in death by two sisters: Amelia Ringler and Mary Jane Compton; special friend, Cliff Shirey; and was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Opal was the owner and operator of the Ritz Beauty Salon on Bedford Street in Cumberland, MD. She started her career as an apprentice in 1939, and bought the business in 1945. She was successful independent business woman for more than 50 years. Opal loved being a beautician, and the many customers she had over the years became close friends. Her shop, a fixture on Bedford Street for many years, was decorated with pictures of the stars of the 40's and 50's. She had many friends in Cumberland. She was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ in Corriganville, MD, where she was an active member, singing in the choir and assisting with Church School activities. She was a member of the Sunshine Sisters. She loved cats and had many through the years. And, although she had no children she was very close to her nieces and grand niece, and took care of her mother for many years. She is survived by her nieces: Janet Waltman and husband, William, Ellerslie, MD; and Linda Ringler and husband, Ronald Gillinov, Columbus, OH; a great niece, Christina Deter and husband David; great nephew: William Waltman, Jr.; and great nieces and nephews: Bryce Deter, Bryanne Deter, Brittany Waltman, Hannah Waltman and William Waltman, III. Friends will be received at the Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur Street, Cumberland, MD, (www.AdamsFamilyFuneralHome.com) on Monday, January 19, 2015 from 9:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. A funeral service will be begin at 11:00 A.M. with Reverend Tomislav Dosch officiating. Interment will be in Greenmount Cemetery. In Opal's own words: “This has been a wonderful experience.
