She was born October 7, 1937 at Junior, a daughter of the late Austin Clark Blake and Cora Amelia Poling Blake. She is survived by one daughter, Sheila Blake Slayton of Elkins. She was born October 7, 1937 at Junior, a daughter of the late Austin Clark Blake and Cora Amelia Poling Blake. She is survived by one daughter, Sheila Blake Slayton of Elkins. Also surviving are two brothers, Gary R. Blake and Richard N. “Neal” Blake, both of Junior and one sister, Lois E. Talbott Bond, a resident of the Barbour County Good Samaritan Center at Belington. One grandson, Timothy A. Slayton of Dailey, one granddaughter, Amelia Faye Miller-Cupp of Elkins and five great-great grandchildren, Shasta and Summer Slayton, Luke Miller and Alexander and Lydia Cupp also survive. In addition to her parents, Opal was also preceded in death by one brother, Austin “Bud” Blake, one sister, Betty Jean Blake and one granddaughter, Sherri Lynn Miller McCauley. Mrs. Shomo was a graduate of Belington High School. She had worked at the former Reiboard Brothers factory in Elkins and was a homemaker. She was a Methodist by faith. Friends may call on Friday, November 8, 2013 at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins from 10:00 A.M. until 12:00 noon, the funeral hour. Rev. Johnny Paul Williams, II will officiate and interment will follow in the Church of the Brethren Cemetery at Junior. The family suggests that contributions may be made to Hospice Care Corporation, P.O. Box 760, Arthurdale, WV 26520.
