Services were Saturday, March 19, at St. Luke's United Methodist Church in David City, with the Rev. Mark Schutt officiating. Burial was at Circle Mound Cemetery at Rising City. Mrs. Crumbliss was born Sept. 23, 1913, near Rising City to Foster and Sadie (Wilson) Hayhurst. She graduated from Rising City High School in 1931 and Kearney State College in 1935. She graduated from Rising City High School in 1931 and Kearney State College in 1935. She was a grade school teacher in rural Rising City. She married Leon Crumbliss of Surprise in 1939. They lived in Chicago, where she taught third grade. Her husband died in June 1971. A year later, she moved to Colorado Springs, Colo., where she worked in retail at May D&F Co. She moved to David City in 1996. She moved to St. Joseph's Court in 2001 and to David Place in 2003. She attended St. Luke's United Methodist Church. She was a former member of North Shore Baptist Church and PTA, both in Chicago, Homebuilders Sunday School class of First Baptist Church of Colorado Springs and United Methodist Church of Rising City. She enjoyed singing. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Alvin and Karen Crumbliss of North Carolina; two grandsons; and brother and sister-in-law, Edward and Mildred Hayhurst of Nampa, Idaho. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and brother, Merle Hayhurst. Memorials may be given in care of the family. Arrangements by Roberts-Chermok Funeral Home, David City.
