Description	:	"Opal Irene (Michaelson) Boies, 94 years, of Fremont, NE passed away on July 3, 2016 at the Fremont Health Medical Center, with family members at her side. Opal was born December 20, 1921 in Tilden, NE to Henry and Margaret (Dredge) Michaelson. She grew up on a farm north of Tilden and moved to Neligh, NE at the age of 16. Opal married Glenn William Boies on April 2, 1941 at the courthouse in O'Neill, NE. They moved to Fremont in 1946. Glenn preceded her in death on April 15, 2016. Opal was born December 20, 1921 in Tilden, NE to Henry and Margaret (Dredge) Michaelson. She grew up on a farm north of Tilden and moved to Neligh, NE at the age of 16. Opal married Glenn William Boies on April 2, 1941 at the courthouse in O'Neill, NE. They moved to Fremont in 1946. Glenn preceded her in death on April 15, 2016. Opal was a homemaker, she worked at the Norfolk Regional Center as an aide, the Nebraska Ordnance Plant at Mead and at Western Electric in Omaha until retiring in 1976. She was a member of First Congregational Church, U.C.C. in Fremont, charter member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles #200 Auxiliary and was a past Madam President from 1974 to 1976 and was named Mother of the Year; and was a life member of the V.F.W. Post #854 Auxiliary. Opal loved to cook for family gatherings and holidays, her lemon meringue pies were famous and she also made mints for many of the weddings in town. She enjoyed working in her yard with her flowers and gardening, golfing and dancing to big band music. She was a very caring and wonderful lady who was loved by so many and will be missed by all. She in now in heaven with the Lord, Glenn and all of her many friends. They are enjoying each other's company again dancing the nights away and playing golf. She is survived by her son, Gary Boies and special friend, Deb Drews of Fremont; daughter, Glenda (Jack) Hemenway of Waukee, IA; 5 grandchildren, Ryan Boies and special friend, Emma Rogge and Michaela Boies and special friend, Robert Row all of Scottsdale, AZ, Michael (Janet) Hemenway of Omaha, Jason (Betsy) Hemenway and Jennifer (Colby) Meays all of Lincoln; 9 great grandchildren, Reece and Grayson Boies of Scottsdale, AZ, Jonathan and Elizabeth Hemenway of Omaha, Ashton Hemenway, Kimoro, Rocco, Harper and Marlo Meays all of Lincon; sisters, Shirley Hopkins of Omaha and Lois (Duard) Dempster of Orchard, NE; brothers-in-law, Jerry Boies of Arlington and Vernon (Jeanette) Boies of Chattanooga, TN; sister-in-law, Mardelle Eix of Fremont and Donna Michaelson of Dallas, Oregon; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, "Buzz", "Newt", Harold and "Jake" Michaelson; sisters, Fern Henry and Dorothy Hansen; brothers-in-law, Elmer Hansen, Milton Boies, Glen Hopkins, and Donald Eix. Memorial service, 10 AM, Saturday, July 9, 2016 at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont. Chaplain James Jost will officiate. A book signing with family receiving friends on Friday from 6 PM to 8 PM at the funeral home. Burial will be at Memorial Cemetery in Fremont. Memorials may be directed to the family. May she rest in peace with the Lord." Moser Memorial Chapel, Fremont, Nebraska.
