Description	:	Opal Jean Brown, 83, of Omaha, formerly of Minden, died of Alzheimer's disease Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2011, in Omaha. Opal was born March 11, 1928, in Almena, Kan., to Curtis and Rosella Sprague. On Dec. 26, 1965, she married Lucius Brown of Minden. He died in 1981. Survivors are: children, Lucius Brown and his wife, Pam, of Grafton and Tim Brown and Jill Brown and her husband, Jim Sorrell, all of Omaha; granddaughters, Baily and Alyssa Brown, Emily Braun and Kate, Madeline, Chloe and Naala Sorrell; brothers, Leroy Sprague and his wife, Joan, of Redding, Calif., and Harry Sprague and his... Opal was born March 11, 1928, in Almena, Kan., to Curtis and Rosella Sprague. On Dec. 26, 1965, she married Lucius Brown of Minden. He died in 1981. Survivors are: children, Lucius Brown and his wife, Pam, of Grafton and Tim Brown and Jill Brown and her husband, Jim Sorrell, all of Omaha; granddaughters, Baily and Alyssa Brown, Emily Braun and Kate, Madeline, Chloe and Naala Sorrell; brothers, Leroy Sprague and his wife, Joan, of Redding, Calif., and Harry Sprague and his wife, Phoebe, of Red Cloud; and sister, Elda Becker of Palestine, Texas. Opal lived in Almena with her seven siblings until they moved to a farm near Edison. She worked as a telephone operator in Holdrege as a young woman. She lived and worked as a farm wife. Lucius died in a farm accident in 1981, and Opal remained on the farm with her children, Lucius, Tim and Jill. She worked at Bethany Home in the kitchen from 1984 to 1996. Opal loved to crochet and garden. Opal was a member of First Christian Church in Minden. In 2006, she moved to Omaha. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Duane, Berle and Paul Sprague; and sister, Ora Wagner. Published in Kearney Hub on August 25, 2011
