Upson Dies at Independence Funeral Held at Masonville Saturday Afternoon Burial Made in Masonville Cemetery Opal Luella Blanchard was born on the hold homestead at Masonville, Fremont township, Buchanan county, Iowa, Sept. 3, 1903, the only daughter of Delbert and Lilly Blanchard. Nov. 4, 1922, she was married at Manchester, to Peter Upson and spent two years of her life in Illinois, then came to Greeley and lived there for ten years. Two years ago she moved with her husband to a farm two and one-half miles southeast of Lamont. She was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church of Masonville and also a member of the Royal Neighbor lodge of Greeley. She had been in failing health for more than a year, but was bedfast only ten years {likely meant ten days}. She was taken to the People's hospital in Independence, where she passed away Wednesday, Feb. 3, 1937. Her aged father, Delbert Blanchard, and her husband, Peter Upson, besides her many other relatives and friends survive to mourn the loss of a loving wife, devoted daughter and trusted friend. She died at the age of 33 years, four months, and three days. Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock in the M. E. church at Masonville, in charge of the pastor the Rev. A. R. Grover. Burial was made in the Greenwood cemetery near Masonville, Iowa. The sympathy of many friends goes out to the husband and father in this great sorrow. Contributor: (48278241)
