Description	:	Opal Houser Entzminger Abney Sorensen was born on February 26, 1887 in Fontana KS. Her father was Albert B. Houser, her mother Frances Kate Dow. Her family included a brother Harry, known as Happy, born in 1885 and a sister Mae born in 1898. Jacob Entzminger and Opal were married on March 18, 1906 in Allen Co, Kansas. Houser, her mother Frances Kate Dow. Her family included a brother Harry, known as Happy, born in 1885 and a sister Mae born in 1898. Jacob Entzminger and Opal were married on March 18, 1906 in Allen Co, Kansas. The couple had two children, Frances and Rachel. After Jacobs death, Opal attended a business school after which she worked in a bank. In about 1920 or 1921 she moved her family, (Rachel and her mother Frances) to Douglas Wyoming. She successfully homestead a piece of land east of Douglas. She worked at clerical jobs, bookkeeping and secretarial work. Eventually she bought a house in Douglas. Just as the market crash leading to the great depression was beginning, on October 20, 1929 she married James Abney in Harrison NE. He died the following year on June 20, 1930 leaving Opal a ranch which she operated through the 1930s. About 1940 or 41 she turned the ranch over to Rachel her daughter and Rachel's husband Pink Reider and began working as a secretary at an Air Base in Casper Wyoming. Soon she was transferred to Ogden UT where she worked at Hill Field. Here she met Francis Sorensen. They were married on January 3, 1944. He and Opal acquired a few acres and a small grocery store near Ogden where they raised and sold some produce along with a normal grocery stock. About 1950 they sold this business to retire and briefly went to New Mexico. They then moved to Hot Springs SD to be near Rachel. They build a 6 room motel which they operated until about 1970. Her last years were spent at the State Soldiers Home in Hot Springs where Opal died at the age of 92 on February 15, 1980. She is buried at the Evergreen Cemetery in Hot Springs. Frank died in September 1982 and is buried beside her.
