HOEL PASSED AWAY Mrs. Carl Hoel, after an illness of two months, passed away late on Friday night of last week, at Reid Memorial hospital, where she had been taken for treatment four weeks before her death. A month prior to her being taken to the hospital a daughter was born, her illness dating from that time. The body of Mrs. Hoel was brought to the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Hoover, north of town, where it lay in state until Sunday, when funeral services were conducted at the Brick church, west of town. The Rev. Lewis Teetor, assisted by the Rev. Abraham Bowman, conducted the services. The subject of the Rev. Teetor's address was 'Early Piety Urged.' Text, Ecc. 12:1. The congregation, led by the church choir, sang 'Jesus, Lover of my soul,' 'It is not death to die,' 'Some sweet day,' 'Sometime we'll surely know,' 'Never alone,' 'Jesus is with me,' and 'Peacefully lay her down to rest.' The bearers were Mr. and Mrs. Brown Burns of Newcastle; Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Rinehart and Mrs. and Mrs. Dorwin Durbin, all high school classmates of Mrs. Hoel. Burial was made in the church cemetery. The services were the most largely attended of any for several years, the attendance being 725 by actual count. Mrs. Hoel was a favorite with all who knew her. Her pleasant smile and hearty word of recognition when meeting an acquaintance, no matter what was their station in life, was elevating in its effect. To her friends she was ever loyal, to her parents obedient and lovable, to her little brother a companion and counselor, to her husband all that life held dear, and for her infant daughter she exhibited the deepest affection. The following was read at the funeral services. OBITUARY Opal May, daughter of William H. and Elizabeth Hoover, was born at the present home of her parents two miles north of Hagerstown, Ind., November 30, 1892, and died at Richmond, Ind., August 2, 1912, at the age of nineteen years,, eight months and two days. After completing her common school work she entered the Hagerstown high school in 1907, and completed the four years' course in 1911. On July 3, 1911, she was married to Carl Hoel, of Milton, Ind., where they began housekeeping soon after marriage and continued until this summer, living happily together at their home and were greatly devoted to each other, in their late affliction as well as in health, until parted by death. While she never made a formal profession of Christianity, she was impressed with the life of the Christian. And during her late severe affliction, she said to her mother, 'If I cannot life with you, I can live with the Lord.' And at another time, she said to her father, 'I have asked to Lord to help me;' and later she said to her grandmother, 'I am thinking more of my God every day.' She was highly respected by all her schoolmates and teachers. She had the disposition to make friends and to keep them. She will be greatly missed by all. She leaves her affectionate husband with her infant daughter, Margaret Louise, her father and mother, her brother Jesse, her little friend Curtis Commins, whom her parents received into their home, and her grand parents. Also her motherinlaw, Mrs. Emma Hoel, and her sisterinlaw, Mrs. Bert Hoel, to whom she was much attached, both of whom gave her much tender care in her home, during her late affliction. Dear wife and daughter 'Thou has left us; Here thy loss we deeply feel. But 'tis God that hath bereft us; He can all our sorrows heal.'
