Description	:	Opal Ruth Ritchie SALISBURY - Mrs. Opal Ruth Ritchie, 88, of Salisbury, passed away Monday, March 12, 2012, at Genesis Healthcare in Salisbury. Born on Dec. 16, 1923, in Rowan County, she was the daughter of the late Luther Locke and Althea Cook Horton. A graduate of China Grove High School, she was a longtime member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, where she was a member of the Lutheran Women, served on the church council, was a choir member and a Sunday School teacher. Read More	Opal Ruth Ritchie SALISBURY - Mrs. Opal Ruth Ritchie, 88, of Salisbury, passed away Monday, March 12, 2012, at Genesis Healthcare in Salisbury. Born on Dec. 16, 1923, in Rowan County, she was the daughter of the late Luther Locke and Althea Cook Horton. A graduate of China Grove High School, she was a longtime member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, where she was a member of the Lutheran Women, served on the church council, was a choir member and a Sunday School teacher. She was the last living member of the Walkie Talkies at St. Paul's. Her work was with S&H Green Stamps, where she worked for many years. Her hobbies included cooking and sewing, gardening and camping. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd A. Ritchie Sr., in 1977. Those left to cherish her memories are her sons, Floyd A. Ritchie Jr. (Pam) of Rock Hill, Kirby A. Ritchie and Jeff L. Ritchie (Sharon), both of Salisbury; and sister Shirley Horton Goodman of Rockwell. Mrs. Ritchie was survived by 11 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Visitation and Service: Visitation will be Thursday from 10 to 11 a.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church with service at 11 a.m., also at the church, with Rev. William Ketchie, minister. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Memorials: May be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church Youth Fund, 205 St. Paul's Church Road, Salisbury NC 28146.
